We do our best to provide you exceptional service
We care for people with intellectual disabilities and people with behavioral disorders. SAMU has two model centers (San Lucas and San Sebastián) led by a team of highly qualified professionals, such as doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, caregivers and educators.
Everyone works closely with families, providing them with special care and passion.
UED San Lucas
On March 1, 2008, the UED San Lucas opened in Seville. This center is a part of the resources of the Psychosocial Care SAMU in Andalusia and is in collaboration with the Department of Equality and Social Welfare of the Junta de Andalucía.
Treatment provided in San Lucas is professional, specialized, personalized and attends to both clients and their families. For this we have an interdisciplinary team with a bio psychosocial approach.
The efforts of our professionals focus on people with intellectual disabilities and behavioral disorders and on attending to people with brain damage.
Our goals are:
- Improve the quality of life of our clients and their families.
- Increase and improve our clients’ personal and social skills.
- Promote personal satisfaction of our clients and their families.
- Promote social relations between clients, between clients and their families and between clients and the community.
Our facilities provide a space that ensures the protection and safety of our clients. We cover the basic needs of housing, meals and assistance with basic activities of daily life. The service portfolio of the center provides a variety of organized activities such as: dance therapy, cognitive and sensory development, crafts, computers, gardening, development of motor and social skills, etc.
These workshops and activities are complemented with a variety of guided outings to events and also meetings with similar organizations. There are many recreational and leisure trips to unique places such as the Corchuela Park, Alamillo Park, Parque de Maria Luisa, Los Pinares de Oromana, etc. Depending on the time of year, these trips include Belenes visits, concerts, spring festivals, outings to the Feria de Abril, beach days, pool days, etc.
Excellent individualized attention
At least once per week, San Lucas clients attend an interdisciplinary clinical session. The Psychiatrist Unit oversees these sessions and both the psychologist and nurse attend. There is also information that provides direct care for the staff, educators and caregivers.
There is a solution for the large dispersion of clients' households in San Lucas. There are now 3 collection routes. These three routes run through the towns of Bormujos, Tomares, Camas, Gelves, La Puebla del Río Coria del Río, Dos Hermanas Utrera and Alcala de Guadaira. In addition we have routes to the neighborhoods of Triana, the Macarena, Alcosa Park, Pino Montano, Sevilla Este, Torreblanca, Nervion Rochelambert, La Oliva, Manuel Fal Conde and Bellavista.
This service provides individual and group sessions to DSU ``San Lucas`` clients (reception, assessment, intervention and follow-up) as well as a work team (coordination, monitoring and psychological support).
SAMU has a teaching department called the Emergency School. All San Lucas professionals are part of this teaching department and actively participate in the development and delivery of courses to families, professionals from other centers, new professionals and future workers of different SAMU centers. San Lucas professionals do not limit their knowledge. They continuously organize new courses and learn new material to better their services.
Direct Attention to Clients
All activities are completed in the unit such as workshops, outings, recreational activities, etc. All are included in this program. We staff professionals in pedagogy, psychology, education, etc. Furthermore, we also have nursing assistants, or caregivers, in this program.
Care for Families
This service is coordinated by the psychologist and the social worker of the center, and its purpose it is to provide information, guidance, training and support to the clients' families.
The unit normally has an uninterrupted schedule from 9:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday. With the exception of holidays, Saturdays and Sundays, we offer our clients a service with this same schedule. Clients' families choose weekend and holiday activities.
Online information service
Families in San Lucas are informed daily of clients' activities. Our unit introduced a new online service that provides this information electronically, promoting the immediacy of such information. It is possible the spread parts of the same information so that those not living with the client can access this information. The center assigned a username and password for each client, and the client's family manages it.
